Questions set by Gillian from Nottingham
- What does the psalmist, David, do when faced with individuals who wish him harm?
- How was David copying? Find some of the ways David refers to his enemies.
- What words do we find in the psalm which emphasise how amazing the fulfilment of this promise was?
- David’s enemies seek his life (v4). What predominantly are the kinds of things David is asking should befall his enemies?
- What makes the hatred of these enemies particularly galling to David?
- On what grounds is David appealing for God’s help?
- What will David do when God answers his prayer?
- What can we learn about dealing with people who hate us or hurt us from this psalm?
- How, if at all, should our prayers be modified in the light of New Testament revelation?

Psalm 52
- V1: what is one characteristic of a great leader, campaigner, or warrior that angers the Lord?
- We can recall individuals who spoke unkindly to and about us and causing us immense suffering and mental distress. What is God’s response? (vv 4-5)
- Why might such unkind leaders become more and more brutal? (v7)
- Reflect on money / wealth and social position – what are ways we can maintain financial and/or social position and remain faithful to God?
- Following from the previous question, consider how God’s love is important for us to grow in him.
- Pray with a focus on God’s holy name (v9) and seek his guidance and protection for the coming days.
