Doctrinal basis of faith

About David

David is passionate about developing study materials, composing (words and music), and leading worship through hymns and songs. Together with his wife, Phebe, they have led seminars and published books on Worship in Cyber Church.

This is a voluminous compendium of study materials on the complete book of Psalms. David has also composed at least one new sung version of each Psalm. David seeks to enable more faith seekers and followers of God to engage with and interrogate the breadth and depth of soul-searching in the Psalms, as well as the intensity and honesty of the spiritual, physical, relational, and mental struggles we face, and to receive answers from God. This is made possible in the design of the questions for individual, group and church studies. This extends our conversations about life’s potential and struggles throughout the week and months, based on God’s word in the Psalms. It is a useful method for individual and whole-church discipleship, and helps us in a regular pattern of meditating on God’s words. As evidenced by the study questions, they urged us to consider relevant thoughts and practical actions in our society, to be channels for God to meet the physical, mental, relational, and spiritual needs of our community, making disciples of all nations.

David is a theologian, musician, and management and IT specialist. He holds a BD (2019, Divinity), a BA in music, an MA in music composition, a PhD in Ethnomusicology (2005, University of Sheffield, UK), a BSc and an MSc in Computer Science and Software Engineering, and an MBA and an MEd in Management. As a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, he teaches IT digital skills and management at the Open University. He plays the piano, pipe organ, electronic organ, and the drum set for worship. He often improvises for the overture and conclusion of worship, linking hymns, songs, and prayers and developing new musical ideas.
